Haryana Civil Services Exam

The Haryana Civil Services Exam is conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) for the recruitment of various government posts such as Haryana Civil Service, Distt. Food and Supplies Controller, Excise and Taxation Officer, Asst. Assistant Regitrar Co-Operative Societies, Asst. Excise and Taxation Officer, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Traffic Manager, District Food and Supplies Officer, Assistant Employment Officer, etc. within the state of Haryana.

Haryana Civil Services Exam Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate should be a resident of Haryana.
  • Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation (in any discipline) from a recognised university or institutions.
  • The age of the candidate should be between 21 to 40 years as on 1st January of the year of examination. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to the reserved category.
  • For the post of DSP, the age of the candidate should be between 21 – 27 years (5 years relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved category) as on 1st January of the year of examination.
  • Physical standard for the post of DSP
    Male: Height: 170.18 cm, Chest: 33” (83.82 cm), Chest with Expansion: 34.5” (87.63 cm)
    Female: Height: 157.50 cm

Haryana Civil Services Exam Pattern

The Haryana Public Service Commission will conduct the exam in three stages-
  1. Preliminary Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personal Interview

Preliminary Exam

The preliminary exam shall comprise of two objective type question papers of 100 marks each.

Paper 1: General Studies
Total Marks: 100
Duration: 2 hours

Paper 2: It is an optional paper and candidates can select one subject of their choice from the list of 19 subjects given below
Total Marks: 100
Duration: 2 hours

Mains Exam

Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the Mains Examination. It shall comprise of 5 compulsory papers.

Paper 1: English (Including English Essay)
Total Marks: 100

Paper 2: Hindi (Including Hindi Essay) in Devangiri Script
Total Marks: 100

Paper 3: General Studies
Total Marks: 100

Paper 4: It is an optional paper and candidates can select two subjects of their choice from the list of 23 subjects given below
Total Marks: 150x2=300

Paper 5: Viva Voca
Total Marks: 75

  2. Agriculture and Animal Husbandary and Veterinary Science
  3. Hindi Literature, English Literature, Sanskrit Literature and Punjabi Literature
  4. Of the Engineering Subjects: Civi Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

Personal Interview

Candidates, who secure qualifying marks in the Main examination, will be eligible to appear for the interview. They will have to sit in front of a panel where the candidates will be judged upon their thorough knowledge about a particular topic.

Haryana Civil Services Exam Application Process

  1. The applicants can fill up online application form for HSC by logging on the official website  http://hpsc.gov.in/ They need to select the post which they wish to apply for and can fill up all the details that are required in the application form such as the name, address and the other personal and educational details.

  2. The applicants are required to attach their scanned photo and signature in the application form.

  3. The application process is finally done after the payment of the application fees.

  4. Candidates can also obtain the application by post by writing his name, address in block letters and name of the post for which the application form is required and category of form and can be sent to -
